She Blinded Me with Science - Thomas Dolby
Laika - Intercontinental Music Lab
Use the comment box, tweet at @geekpop or email crew@geekpop.co.uk to let us know what you think about the science behind the songs.
Thanks to Intercontinental Music Lab for their wonderful intro and outro music, which is taken from Probe II's Golden Message on the Superheroes of Space album.

Kudryavka = Laika’s original name, means little curly haired one… Nice
Dennis Nedry was played by Wayne Knight
Cillian Murphy played both Scarecrow and the physicist (Capa) in Sunshine
Bit late for research though…
Very entertaining, and tres informative. Although so much like having you all here in the room that I did start talking to you at a few points.
Question about She Blinded Me With Science, yes there’s biology and chemistry, but what about physics - the most important of the sciences?
Perhaps we can weasel in a point for Law of Attraction?
“The most important of the sciences,” he says. Tuh.
Methinks he is biased… Although chemistry is the boringest of the sciences, and nobody is going to put biology in charge of anything, so grudgingly I think Doug is right
Er. Maths?
http://xkcd.com/435/
Maths is too lofty for it’s own good. You need a little physics in the mix to bring the fun.
Well said Jim. Chemistry is about as dry as the Antarctic and the thought of biological world domination is enough to give anyone the jitters.
Good old reductionism says that all biology is chemistry and all chemistry is physics. Instead I prefer to think of Physics the great monarch of The Kingdom of Science with Maths sat beside his mighty throne as a somewhat naggy but wholly neccessary Queen
Argghhh… just committed the ultimate writers crime…. Spelling necessary with TWO c’s. Humble apologies
@Colin Stuart: The Antarctic might be dry now, but given that it holds 90% of the Earth’s ice, it’s going to be awfully wet when climate change really sets in… chemistry could be due a renaissance.
Does that make social science some sort of court jester that everyone laughs at?
guys - just grabbed this podcast, great stuff - I loved the banter and the songs, really enjoyed it - looking forward to the next one
